As the Chief Innovation Officer of SAP, Juergen Mueller leads SAP’s innovation agenda. In this role, he is responsible for
continuously exploring new technologies and incubating those that will have significant business impact for SAP, its
customers, and partners. Moreover, he is in charge of building new business model and market driven innovations – boldly
ideating on breakthrough ideas for SAP and quickly validating these in the market. Juergen reports to SAP’s CEO, Bill
McDermott, and advises the SAP Executive Board on all innovation-related topics.
In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, Juergen serves as the Managing Director of SAP Labs Berlin. In that role,
Juergen drives SAP’s innovation footprint in the region of Greater Berlin by tighter collaboration with universities, public
institutions, design communities, startups and other companies within the highly strategic region. Developing and sourcing
talent from the region is also part of the charter.
Before joining SAP in September 2013, Juergen was co-representative of Professor Plattner’s research chair at the Hasso
Plattner Institute (HPI) for Software Systems Engineering, University of Potsdam, Germany. He finished his PhD related
to new applications optimized for In-Memory Databases under the supervision of Professor Hasso Plattner and spent
significant time in China during his business informatics studies.
